Down 19-14 with just over 2:00 remaining in the NFC Championship Game, the Seattle Seahawks, in desperation mode, attempted an onside kick.
Green Bay Packers’ Brandon Bostick, the 2nd year tight end out of Newbury College, jumped high and appeared to have had the ball in his possession, but the ball came up higher than expected and hit him between the numbers and popped out, allowing the Seahawks to recover the kick.
Bostick had just two receptions for three yards during the regular season. Bostick is one of Green Bay’s special teams contributors and one of the players on the hands team during onside kick scenarios.
The Seahawks would march down the field and take a 22-19 lead with 1:25 to go. Green Bay would drive and answer to tie the game at 2-2 and send the game into overtime. On the 1st drive of OT, the Seahawks scored a touchdown to end the game 28-22 and advance to the Super Bowl for the 2nd consecutive season.
