While the four-plus month wait for the start of a new NBA season has been long for many, imagine how the wait has been for Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid. A lottery pick in the 2014 NBA Draft, foot injuries have prevented Embiid from playing in a single regular season game the last two seasons. That changes Wednesday night, as Embiid makes his regular season debut when the Sixers host the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Of course, with Philadelphia’s injury luck Embiid’s return coincides with injuries sidelining rookie forward Ben Simmons (foot) and expected starting point guard Jerryd Bayless (wrist). Simmons’ injury means more minutes for rookie Dragan Bender, whose debut is also highly anticipated, and no Bayless means that T.J. McConnell will be seeing a lot of Russell Westbrook. This is the first of two games on ESPN Wednesday night, with Houston visiting the Lakers in the nightcap.
In total there are ten games on the NBA schedule for Wednesday, with the eight not being shown on ESPN available on NBA League Pass. Below are the times and television listings, with all times being Eastern.
