Josh Hamilton, Former Texas Rangers and Anaheim Angels star is being charged on an allegation of injury to a child, a 3rd degree felony, and turned himself on Wednesday, October 30, at the Tarant County Courthouse, as reported by CBS 11.
Hamilton’s bail was set at $35,000, with part of the conditions being that he is banned from having contact with one of his daughters, which was then expanded to included any child under the age of 17. In the documents obtained by TMZ, his daughter alleges that Hamilton threw a full bottle of water using an overhand motion into her chest, and that he was swearing and yelling at her before grabbing a chair and throwing it at her.
She then claims Hamilton grabbed her by the shoulders and yanked her to the ground, which caused an injury to her hip, before pinning her down an hitting her legs with “an open hand and a closed fist.”
Hamilton’s alleged that afterward he said, “I hope you go in front of the f***ing judge and tell him what a terrible dad I am so I don’t have to see you anymore and you don’t ever have to come to my house again.”
The All-Star outfielder has four children from his marriage to Katie Chadwick, who’s best known for starring on Bravo’s Real Housewives of Orange County. The couple tied the knot in 2004, and had three daughters, Stella Faith, 8, Sierra, 14, and Michaela Grace, 11, including a daughter from Katie’s previous relationship, Julia Shea. However, while Hamilton struggled with drugs and alcohol throughout his career, their marriage also took a hit, and they filed for divorce in February 2015.
The former MLB star, 38, who was inducted into the Texas Rangers’ Hall of Fame after he played with the franchise from 2008 to 2012, and brought the team to two World Series, won the AL MVP in 2010. He was an MLB All-Star team selection in all five seasons he played with the Rangers, before heading to the Anaheim Angels.

1. Hamilton Met His Ex-Wife Through Her Father, Michael Chadwick, His Former Drug & Alcohol Mentor
Hamilton’s drug addiction has been well documented since it began in 2001, when he made his first trip to rehab, In 2003, Hamilton failed multiple drug tests, and after numerous stints in rehab and a three-year suspension, Hamilton relapsed with alcohol in 2009, then again in 2012. In 2015, Hamilton’s relapse involved cocaine.
The MLB suspended Hamilton, and he worked with businessman Michael Chadwick to help get his life and career together. It was through Chadwick that he met his future wife, his mentor’s daughter, Katie Chadwick. The two started dating in 2002 and married two years later. After 11 years extremely rock years together, they filed for divorce.
In 2018, Michael Chadwick passed away from cancer.

Ahead of the 2013 MLB season, he signed a 5-year $125 million contract with the Anaheim Angels, but it only lasted two years before another knee injury put him on the disabled list just before his 36th birthday. Even after the team released him 2017, the Angels still had to pay him $26.41 million.

Years after divorcing Hamilton, which was a storyline featured during Chadwick’s stint on Real Housewives of Orange County, she made her second reality TV debut on the second season of Lifetime’s Marrying Millions, and in a twist on the gender normative, she was the sugar mama in her relationship featured on the show.
Chadwick started dating Kolton Pierce, a hip hop artist, 14 years her junior. The couple initially met because he was friends with one of Katie’s daughters, Julia, who’s 18-years-old, and they tried to kept their relationship under wraps for months before breaking the news as natch, cameras rolled.
Julia said of their relationship, “If I would have had it my way, I would have not picked my mom to date one of my best friends.”
Hamilton’s ex-wife also opened up about her divorce on the series. She said, “My marriage ended due to my husband’s substance abuse issues and just some personal battles that he was dealing with. The divorce was definitely not something I would have done and just still sorting through how to raise my kids in a way that I didn’t anticipate.”
4. Hamilton Said In May That He Was Focusing On ‘Making Up For Lost Time With My Girls’
After multiple knee injuries ended his MLB career, Hamilton told the Associated Press that while he does miss playing some days, his focus is now on his daughters, and sometimes coaches his daughters’ softball games.
He said, “I’ve been making up for lost time with my girls, being Dad. Got a ranch towards College Station, spending time there. Hadn’t really thought much of baseball. It’s one of things where I never cared too much about watching the game, but I loved playing it more than anything.”
Hamilton never a formal announcement when he retired from baseball, he “just slip off into the background” and moved back to Texas. “I’d be lying to you if I said I still didn’t feel like I could get out there and play,” he said. “Then I remember why I quit. Just to be there for my girls.”
5. Hamilton & Chadwick’s Eldest Daughter Julia Is A Model
Julia Shea is an aspiring model represented by CGM Models, and lives in the Los Angeles area. Her sister Madison is seen in her photos, but keeps her own account on Instagram set to private, as does Sierra. Hamilton and Chadwick’s youngest daughter, Stella, appears to be too young to have her own social media account just yet.
The sisters remain incredibly close with one another and their mother.
