The end of the Houston Rockets and San Antonio Spurs game featured a strange scene which was one of the most unique in history. And following a missed call by the officials, Mark Berman of Fox 26 in Houston reported the Rockets have officially filed a protest with the NBA surrounding their 135-133 loss to the Spurs on Tuesday night.
The officials waved off a dunk by Harden that the NBA later admitted that should have counted.
Per ESPN’s Tim McMahon on Tuesday night, the Rockets are optimistic that the league will take any action regarding the missed call by the officials.
“A Rockets source is optimistic that the NBA office will take action regarding James Harden’s dunk that didn’t count, either awarding the win to Houston or ordering that the final 7:50 be replayed because the Rockets outscored the Spurs in regulation.”
James Harden dropped 50 points going 11-38 from the floor along with nine rebounds, and six assists against the Spurs, but no play proved more crucial than the dunk that was waived off by the officials.
After the James Harden was asked was he given an explanation of why the dunk didn’t count. Harden replied, “nope.” He tried to convince the officials “that the ball went in,” Harden said.
Harden has been averaging 39.5 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 7.8 assists per game through 20 games this season.

James Harden Talks About How Teams Are Defending Him
Earlier this year, James Harden sat down with ESPN’s Rachel Nichols and the two discussed how James is being defended.
“I have seen it all, especially on the court,” said Harden. “I have seen double-teamed, triple-teamed, zones, literally guys are trying to keep the ball out of my hands. But, I mean the scoring streak is obviously amazing it just something that I had to do because of our situation with all the injuries to guys in and out the lineup. So, I think streak just started happening and now it is something to talk about, but it isn’t something that I really honestly focused on. It is something I have to do in order to give us a chance to win the game.”
Former Houston Rockets Chucky Brown on James Harden
Ex-Rockets forward Chucky Brown was recently interviewed by Dan Sports News and Friends host Daniel Flores and was asked what he likes about James Harden’s game.
“Just the fact that he is a fearless scorer and it doesn’t matter who you put in front of him,” said Brown.” You have to game plan for him and if you don’t game plan for him, he will hurt you. I think you really need to double him, which people don’t but you need to double him.
Back in February of 2019, Rachel Nichols sat down with both former NBA veterans Kobe Bryant and Tracy McGrady, and asked about James Harden’s crazy streak last season.
“I’m not a fan of it in terms of winning championships, I don’t think that style is ever going to win championships,” Bryant said Harden on the episode of The Jump.

“But at the same time you have to keep your team’s head above water to win games, so you have to do what you have to do to win games. And he’s doing that.”
“So are you saying you don’t think James Harden and the Rockets, as constructed, can win a title?” host Rachel Nichols asked.
“Not with this style of play, it won’t win. With one player dominating the ball,” Bryant replied.
“What he’s doing is absolutely remarkable though. It’s a testament to how remarkable it is because people are now trying to minimize what it is that he’s doing. He’s doing some phenomenal stuff.”
