As millions in the United States prepare to self-isolate amid new COVID-19 regulations, several are left figuring out how to support their household in the wake of reduced income for likely a prolonged period of time.

In an effort to help suppress those worries, Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Tyreek Hill announced Monday he is donating 6,000 meals to Kansas City-area families, challenging his teammates to do the same as well.

Cheetah’s statement reads: “The COVID-19 outbreak is changing our daily lives. Today, my foundation will be partnering with Harvesters to donate meals to families, and youth who are now without their free breakfast or lunch programs. Today, in partnership with Harvesters I am donating 6,000 meals to our greater KC community. I am challenging my teammates and our Chiefs Kingdom to help support all those facing these unprecedented obstacles. Stay safe, stay informed and support each other!!”

Some of the teammates Hill challenged include Super Bowl MVP quarterback Patrick Mahomes, tight end Travis Kelce and defensive tackle Chris Jones, who the Chiefs franchise tagged on Monday.

Is ChrisJones Staying in Kansas City?

The franchise sack leader last season may have posted a cryptic message on Friday about his future at Arrowhead Stadium, but looks like Brett Veach, Andy Reid and company are keen on keeping the 25-year-old in red and white, per the team’s official Twitter account.

The Mississippi State product has been somewhat vocal about the imminent news. During an appearance on FS1’s “The Herd” with Colin Cowherd, Jones opened up about the idea of being tagged.

“It’s like a mix of emotions because you figure that after four years, you do everything the right way, you try to stay under the lines and out of trouble, be a good citizen for the team and for the city, you expect to be rewarded,” the 25-year-old explained. “When you’re hit with the franchise tag it can go different ways. You can feel like they’re not valuing you or they’re not valuing what you bring to the table. You can look at it as giving them time to get their horses in a cage and get something together.”

Considering the Chiefs have plenty of other deals to work out this offseason, including a record-breaking contract for quarterback Patrick Mahomes, many in Chiefs Kingdom are hoping that it’s the latter in Jones’ reasoning and not the former.

Andy Reid Opes up About Jones Tag

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid was a guest on 610 Sports Radio’s “Fescoe in the Morning” Friday, and the veteran play-caller openly spoke about Jones’ impact in the run-up to their first Super Bowl title in 50 years and what that means for his tenure in the City of Fountains.

“Chris is a part of this team, a big part of this team — he helped us get where we were,” the 61-year-old said. “It’s crazy because in this business, we’re all expendable. That’s been proven over and over again. On the other hand, you’d like to keep everybody. But that’s not real. So would we like to keep Chris? Sure. But things happen in this business, and we’re all players and coaches. We’re all used to that, and so if he’s here, great, man. That’s a great thing. If he’s not, we’re going to keep plowing, man, and keep moving on, and we expect somebody else to step up and fill in that position. We get all of that… You’ve been in this thing long enough, I think we understand that. I think the fans understand that.”

The way things are going, this is poised to be a busy off-season for the Kansas City Chiefs.
