The iPad 5 is rumored to be Apple’s flagship tablet for this winter as the corporation gears up to announce its newest devices on October 22nd. Here are five fast facts you need to know.
1. The iPad 5 Will Look Just Like An iPad Mini
Arguably the biggest piece of speculation surrounding the tablet is its design. The size has been drastically toned down to match with its smaller counterpart seen in the image above. If this does come true, the re-design for the fifth-gen iPad will be the most significant change since the iPad 2 in terms of size and shape. The previous generations of the iPad have been pretty bulky so Apple may want to get rid of the thick bezel to support the rumored 9.7 inch display.
2.iPad 5 May Not Be The Actual Name
Tim Cook and his team created a brand new product line this year when Apple introduced two new iPhones. The cheaper iPhone known as the iPhone 5C was intended a tool to capitalize on emerging markets. Could the name of the iPad change? There is a possibility. Based on the speculation that the design may be similar between the two tablets, Apple may want to add some level of differentiation.
3. The iPad 5 Could Run on An A7 Processor
This is another possibility since Apple had wanted to adjust the internal specs for the tablet if it was going to be shrunk down. The iPhone 5s contains this chip which greatly strengthens the processing power to support 64-bit programs. However, iPads run on variations of all these chips so there is a chance Apple could infuse it with something entirely new.
4. Space Gray Is One Confirmed Color
Another new element Apple introduced with the two new iPhones was by adding different colors to their standard product line. Usually, the phones and iPads have come in black and white. The iPhone 5C has multi-colored options to choose from while the iPhone 5S has a gold and grey selection. The iPad 5 could continue this trend based on the leaks that have come out over the past few months. Sonny Dickson, the prolific leaker behind some of the biggest photo galleries for the phones over the summer, has been posting pictures of the alleged fifth-gen iPad in a Space Grey option but no images of Gold have surfaced.
5. There Could Be More Models Arriving in 2014
Next week, Apple will most likely reveal just TWO new iPads but could they also be planning their next set of tablets? The prominent Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has offered his insight into Apple’s possible exploration of other size and price models. Tim Cook and his team could be considering low-cost versions as well as test out massive new screen sizes such as 13 inches. If they do arrive in 2014, it could be because Apple is hoping to speed up sales after barely cracking the market with the iPhone 5C.
We’ll have all the news you need to know about the two new iPads on October 22nd.
