1. iPhone 6 Plus vs. Galaxy Note 4: Price
Go hands on with the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus in the video above from the Verge.
The pricing of the iPhone 6 Plus is kind of a complicated issue, and one we’ve explored more fully in our article on iPhone 6 pricing. That being said, here’s a rundown of the essential info about the iPhone 6’s price across different carriers.
The iPhone 6 starts at $199, and the larger 6 Plus starts at $299. The iPhone 6 comes in three storage options: the 16GB ($199), the 64GB ($299), and the 128GB ($399). The 6 Plus has three options, too: the 16GB ($299), the 64GB ($399), and the 128GB ($499). Prices are, of course, higher if you buy a phone off-contract.
Sprint’s iPhone for Life plan lets you get a 6 Plus for $0 down and $70/month. AT&T Next customers can get the phone for $0 down as well, with pricing plans that may vary.
Note 4 pricing is still a bit up in the air, since the phone won’t be out until next month. AT&T has a page where you can sign up for Note 4 price updates. You can also get the phone unlocked from Amazon for about $900.
2. iPhone 6 Plus vs. Galaxy Note 4: Wearable Accessories
Get a closer look at the Note 4 phone in the video above from Android Authority.
There’s a whole pile of Gear smartwatches and fitness bands that work with the Note 4, including the Samsung Gear Live and the Gear S. Samsung also makes a wide array of cases, earbuds, and other mobile accessories to pair with your S5. One really cool tech gadget that only works with the Note 4 is the Gear VR headset.
Apple also makes a number of cases and accessories to go with your iPhone 6 Plus. The accessory that most iPhone 6 Plus fans are most interested in is the Apple Watch, which will cost more than most comparable Samsung wearables at $349 (or more for premium models). The Apple Watch looks pretty cool, but iPhone 6 fans won’t have a chance to try it out until it launches early next year. No VR headsets are available from Apple.
3. iPhone 6 Plus vs. Galaxy Note 4: Specs
The Bloomberg video above questions whether bigger is better with regards to the new iPhones.
The 6 Plus is 7.1mm thick. The Apple A8 chip powers the phone. It is a 64-bit chip that has 2 billion transistors, but is 13% smaller than the previous A7 chip. Graphics should load 50 percent faster than on the previous chip generation.
You can get a full rundown of the Note 4’s specs here, but here are some of the highlights: a 2.7GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage, upgradeable to 64GB. The iPhone 6 Plus comes with as much as 128GB of storage.
It’s a bit hard to compare battery life between these two devices, since they are powered by different chips that will affect how each device drains the battery. The Note 4 has a 3,220mAh battery. The iPhone 6 Plus battery’s exact size has yet to be revealed, but Apple claims it has 16 hour battery life.
4. iPhone 6 Plus vs. Galaxy Note 4: Camera
Go hands-on with the Gear VR in the PC Mag video above. The Gear VR only works with the Note 4.
The iPhone 6 has a 8MP camera, true-tone flash, 1.5 micron pixels, and a f/2.2 aperture. The phase-detection auto-focus used in both the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus means you can take photos fast, and with the same technology found in professional DSLR camera.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 will have a 16 MP back camera with image stabilization, plus a 3.7 MP front camera. The front camera has been designed to capture more light (and therefore, better selfies.) You can use the heart rate sensor on the back of the device as a shutter button when you take selfies.
5. iPhone 6 Plus vs. Galaxy Note 4: Final Thoughts
The LG G3 and the newly announced Samsung Galaxy Note 4 go head-to-head in the video above.
Both the Note 4 and iPhone 6 Plus are premium devices that will appeal to phablet fans. Both devices have been thoughtfully designed, and each phone offers something that the competition can’t beat. If you want a VR-capable, stylus-enabled phablet, get the Note 4. If you want an iOS 8-powered phablet with great battery life and eventual Apple Watch support, then the 6 Plus is the device for you.
