‘America’s Got Talent’ Finale: Mat Franco Performs With Rosie O’Donnell

Magician Matt Franco is teaming up with Rosie O’Donnell for his performance tonight on the grand finale of America’s Got Talent. Franco is the only magician in the competition, which makes him stand out among all the singers. He also has other qualities that make him stand out. Turn To 10 writes:

Franco has been able to stand out not just for his magic but his storytelling. He often incorporates the judges into his magic tricks and comes up with something new every performance. He wowed the judges with two tricks in his final performance on Tuesday night’s show. One trick involved audience members holding giant cards; the other was a sleight of hand trick with a story and a rhyme he wrote for the judges. They were impressed.

Many feel that Franco will take the win with his act, winning the $1 million and a headlining contract in Vegas. Franco opened up to the Providence Journal about why he thinks fans are drawn to him, saying:

Magicians are always thought of as traveling with a lot of big props. I’ve always been jealous of comedians who travel with nothing. I like to be the one who does the most with the least number of things … I don’t have a gimmick. I come across as an ordinary guy. Just a dude doing magic tricks.

Also, among his many tricks, he revealed the trick to getting far in the competition:

People expect you to outdo yourself as the show goes on. But I don’t think that means it needs to be bigger or more spectacular. But it needs to be different. It needs to show variety.
