Tonight is the season 2 premiere of Wynonna Earp at 10pm ET/PT on Syfy.
Described as a sci-fi Western by Collider, the show follows Wynonna, who– in the vein of Buffy– takes on a host of dangerous creatures with her loyal group of dysfunctional friends.
At the end of last season, an open portal brought new demons into the town of Porgatory. This season, Dolls, played by Shamier Anderson, is being forced to accept his werewolf side after being taken by the Black Badge. Wynonna’s ready to do whatever she needs to get her friend back, but that may come with some sacrifices.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly recently, Emily Andras spoke about Season 2 and what fans can expect from the new season. Asked how she approached season 2, the executive producer said, “With hope and fear, in equal measure. It really is a curse and a blessing — but obviously 98 percent a blessing. I feel like it was such a delight to see the fan base fall in love with the show in the way we all love it. But I feel like there’s also certain pressures that come with, now people have expectation or hopes or desires for the show in season 2.”
Andras also talked a bit about Wynonna’s journey this season, and dished to EW that she’ll struggle to keep things together with her dysfunctional family as she also works to differentiate good from bad in precarious moral situations.
