Bacteria-Infected Tampons Stolen by Bandits & Now on Sale in Stores (Don’t Buy Them)

kotex tampons stolen

Thousands of tampons tainted with bacteria and metallic particles, slated to be destroyed, were stolen by tampon bandits and sold to retail stores.

They are now indistinguishable from the non-infected tampons and could be anywhere, so listen up, ladies: It’s best to avoid the Kotex Natural Balance Security brand for now. Even if it’s your favorite. You could be inserting bacteria and metal particles into your, um, self.

The bandits made off with roughly 16,000 cases of the tampons, whose “Security” label is suddenly ironic in light of Kimberly-Clark Corp’s inability to keep wraps on the tainted batch. The tampons were in transit to Oklahoma for destruction and disposal when the bandits struck.

The company did not explain how the tampons were intercepted or how thieves could so easily sell stolen goods to retail stores.
