Florida Governor Gives Out Phone Sex Number Instead of Meningitis Hotline

Florida Governor Rick Scott

Oops. Floridians were in shock on Tuesday when they called a meningitis hotline and got something very different. Florida Governor Rick Scott accidentally gave out the number for a toll-free sex hotline instead of the meningitis hotline he intended to in wake of the deadly fungal meningitis outbreaks. The governor was giving an update on the outbreak at a Florida Cabinet meeting on Tuesday when he announced the number but mixed them up.

Callers were greeted with a recording of a woman when they dialed they number: “Hello boys, thank you for calling me on my anniversary,” the woman said seductively to many meningitis-information-seekers. Scott mixed up just one number. What are the odds?

The governor corrected the error just 20 minutes later by giving the correct number for the Florida Fungal Meningitis Hotline, 866-523-7339.

138 people have contracted the deadly disease and 12 have died since the outbreak began.
