Three people have been shot after a fatal attack at a rearview mirror factory in Tennessee. The incident occurred on the morning of April 11 at the Ficosa plant in the town of Cookeville. The town is located 80 miles east of Nashville. Cookeville Mayor Ricky Shelton said in a Facebook post, “There has been a shooting at the Ficosa plant. The plant is secure. There is no outside threat. More details when they’re available. Please pray for all those involved!”

The gunman is among those who were shot. The Cookeville Police Department has said that there is no further threat to the community. Fox Nashville reports that one of those who was shot works at the plant. WKRN’s Chris Bundgaard reports that two females and one male are those involved.

The Cookeville Police Department says that one of those shot has died while two others have been rushed to a local hospital. The person killed was the gunman.
The gunfire broke out in the parking lot of the plant. Chris Bundgaard reports that two of the victims are in critical condition.

3. The Plant’s Opening in October 2016 Received Heavy Media Coverage
Ficosa makes automotive industry parts. The Cookeville plant opened in October 2016. The Tennessean reported at the time that the plant, which cost $50 million to open, is Ficosa’s “largest and most technologically advanced facility in the U.S.”
The official press release from the company said that the plant “is bringing hundreds of new jobs to Cookeville, with new job positions opening up daily, from production and project managers, technicians and engineers, to human resource specialists and assembly and warehouse workers.”
4. No Motive Has Been Made Public About the Shooting
Officials have not given a motive for the shooting.

According to Ficosa’s official website, the company employs 9,700 people worldwide. Ficosa was founded in 1949 and is based in Barcelona. The company’s main business is rearview mirrors. They are based in 19 countries.
