Outside the Payne County courthouse today, attorney Tony Coleman stood alongside the family of Adacia Chambers, before heading into the courtroom for Adacia’s arraignment. Adacia is facing four counts of second degree murder, each of which could carry a sentence of ten years to life in prison. Chambers is expected to be arraigned via TV, where she will face a judge. Media are not permitted in the courtroom.
Outside the courthouse, Adacia’s mother, aunt, and boyfriend continued to show their support and bewilderment of Adacia. Her father Frank Chambers maintained that Adacia is a “kind, loving, caring person wouldn’t have done this personally.” He insisted that his daughter is not involved with drugs or alcohol, but that there “May have underlying problems (he) wasn’t fully aware of.”
Adacia’s aunt, who was with her the night before the accident, said that she was “happy” the last time she saw her. The family also added that Adacia was considering moving back home to Oologah, something her father and aunt encouraged. Her boyfriend, OSU student Jesse Gaylord, also maintained that Chambers was not under the influence at the time of the wreck.

Chambers’ attorney Tony Coleman requested bail to be set at $250,000. That was denied, and bail was set at $1 million. The judge granted a psychological evaluation, but the jail will decide when that takes place. The District Attorney then asked for to weeks to bring about formal charges. It was said they are waiting for more info on a fifth victim in a “fragile state,” as well as other victims. At least four counts of second degree murder will be charged, but the DA needs to see more evidence.
Formal charges will be at the next hearing, scheduled for November 13.
