South Korean actress Go Soo Jung, best known for her role in the Korean drama Goblin, has died at the age of 24, according to her agency, Story J Company.
Her agency made the announcement on February 12, although they confirmed that her funeral took place three days earlier, on February 9. The announcement was made on Story J Company’s Instagram and was translated into English by AllKPop.
It says: “A few days ago, actress Go Soo Jung bid farewell to this world and became one of the bright stars in the sky. We will always remember actress Go Soo Jung and her glowing smile which brightened the world. Please wish her a safe passage.”
Her Cause of Death Is Unknown at This Time
The news site Soompi reports that the actress passed away due to an “illness,” and news sites are translating Story J Company’s post either as “terminal illness” or “chronic illness” but no further information has been released about her cause of death. Her funeral took place on Sunday, February 9, and was attended by close friends and family.
The actress was just 24 years old, and her date of birth was listed by Soompi as April 24, 1995.
Go Soo Jung Appeared in Minor Yet Memorable Roles
In addition to her role in Goblin, Go Soo Jung appeared in Solomon’s Perjury. Although her role in Goblin was minor, it was a popular role, as she played a ghost who followed around the Goblin’s bride, Ji Eun Tak.
Goblin, also known as Guardian: The Lonely and Great God, was a very popular Korean drama that aired on the network tvN between 2016 and 2017. It tells the story of an immortal Goblin (Dokkaebi) who has been alive for 900 years. The Goblin’s immortality can only be lifted by a human bride, which he desperately seeks so that she can lift his curse and free his soul.
