On the night the Tsarnaev brothers were involved in a dramatic firefight with police – they were  apparently on their way to New York City “to party”, says Police Commisionner Ray Kelly. But instead of a enjoying a celebratory weekend, the older Boston Marathon bombing suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev was killed while younger brother Dzhokhar Tsarnaev captured after being severely wounded.

Prior the shootout with police in Watertown, Mass., the brothers allegedly killed MIT campus officer – Sean Collier – and lobbed explosives at officers.

According to NBC, Kelly told reporters Wednesday that the younger suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, who is currently hospitalized, told police that they were en route to Manhattan to “party” following their attack that killed three people and injured over 180. Police say they believe, based on interviews with the younger brother, that there was no threat to New York as no additional attacks were planned.
