According to reports, the rumors that former U.S. President Jimmy Carter is to make a trip to North Korea are true, reports CBS’ Peter Maer. Earlier it had been reported that Carter was planning the trip to help secure the release of Kenneth Bae, the middle-aged, American-citizen tour-guide who is a accused of plotting the overthrow of the North Korean government.
A source told The South China Morning Post:
The issue of Kenneth Bae, who has been held in the North for nine months, is becoming a burden for the US, even if Carter’s visit materialises, it will be focused on the issue of Kenneth’s Bae’s release more than anything else.
Bae was sentenced to 15 years of hard labor in May.
