Pakistan today suffered an earthquake so severe it resulted in the death of 45 people and gave birth to a new island.
The US Geological Survey said the quake hit 145 miles southeast of Dalbandin, which resides in the earthquake-prone province of Baluchistan, which shares a border with Iran.
The 7.8-magnitude quake was felt hundreds of miles away, shaking buildings in the Indian capital of Delhi, according to The Guardian.
According to Reuters, at least 30 percent of houses in the impoverished Awaran district had collapsed. Many homes were destroyed in the aftershocks.

Amazingly, the powerful quake also gave birth to a new land mass about 600 meters off the coast, in the Arabian Sea. The newly emerged island is visible from the mainland.
