Jon Stewart just can’t stay away. The former Daily Show host was on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert once again, this time completely taking over the show. It truly was like a Daily Show segment, complete with Stewart sketching on paper as he talked.
Stewart noted how difficult it will be for conservatives to embrace Donald Trump because he embodies “all the things that they said, for years, have hated about Barack Obama.”
“A thin-skinned narcissist with no government experience,” Stewart said, quoting Fox News anchors who were describing Obama. “Yes, that sounds exactly like… Barack Obama.”
He then traced how Sean Hannity justified controversial comments from Trump. In 2012, Hannity criticized Obama for using a teleprompter, but in 2016, he seemed fine with Trump using one.
Stewart also went after Republicans for using “Blue Lives Matter” rhetoric when some of them voted against renewing the 9/11 First Responders Bill. Stewart pushed for Congress to pass it, even after he left The Daily Show last year. When it finally passed in December, 33 Senators and 113 Representatives voted against it.
Thursday’s episode of The Late Show also featured comedian Billy Eichner’s comments on Trump’s speech. He was very excited to meet Elizabeth Warren, who was also on the show.
Warren, by the way, called Trump a “two-bit dictator” in her response to Trump’s speech.
