The 99 squad is taking a much-needed holiday break before returning to duty. Unfortunately for them, they have to work New Year’s Day. The next new episode of FOX‘s Brooklyn Nine-Nine airs on Sunday, January 1, 2017 at 8:30 p.m. ET, although the show could be delayed due to NFL action. Read on for a preview of the special, hour-long episode, “The Fugitive.”
The previous episode of Nine-Nine was “Captain Latvia,” in which Jake and Boyle got in trouble while trying to get Boyle’s adoptive son Nikolaj a rare Christmas gift. Meanwhile, Captain Holt and the rest of the 99 were busy in a Christmas carol competition with their enemies at the MTA.
In “The Fugitive,” the squad has to help find a group of escaped convicts running around Brooklyn. Jake surprisingly gains help from an unexpected ally. That is expected to be his long-time nemesis, the Pontiac Bandit himself – Doug Judy, played by The Office‘s Craig Robinson. Former Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch also has a cameo.
As Entertainment Weekly revealed, Jake and Amy have a competition to see who can round up the most convicts. Jake enlists the Pontiac Bandit to help, although Captain Holt disapproves because he’s boring like that.
Fox hasn’t announced when the following episode of Brooklyn Nine-Nine will air.
