Last week was a bloodbath at the networks, with dozens of shows cancelled by ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox and The CW. But it wasn’t all bad news. Plenty of shows will be returning for the 2017-2018 TV season to give audiences characters that they are familiar with alongside new shows the networks will try to launch. Many of these shows are the traditional juggernauts like The Big Bang Theory and Law & Order: SVU, while several freshman ’16-’17 shows like Timeless and Riverdale will live again.

Below is a complete list of every show that will return for another season in 2017-2018 on the five broadcast networks. The list will continue to be updated as more are added.

UPDATE #1: CBS’ Code Black was added.

UPDATE #2: ABC’s Quantico added.

The list of shows renewed by ABC and CBS make it obvious as to why so many new shows struggle to survive past their first seasons. At ABC, dinosaurs like Grey’s Anatomy and Modern Family still roam the earth. The network also made the puzzling decision to keep Once Upon A Time alive, even though the ratings are terrible and the entire main cast is leaving the show. (Even the show’s creators told The Hollywood Reporter that they were prepared to have Season 6 be the show’s last.)

The Alphabet Network’s commitment to old game shows will also continue, as The $100,000 PyramidTo Tell The Truth and Match Game were all picked up. Those shows will be joined by the revived American Idol.

CBS is carrying over 24 shows, if you include the newsmagazines 48 Hours and 60 Minutes, plus the daytime soap The Bold and the Beautiful. With just two hours of primetime programming each night, keeping 15 shows alive for next year doesn’t give Fox much space for new programs. Fox is surprisingly giving Star another season, even though its ratings were nothing compared to Lee Daniels’ other show, EmpireNew Girl was also picked up for a seventh and final season. Also The Simpsons is staying alive to keep Fox’s Sunday line-up anchored. The show will get to celebrate its 30th anniversary during the 2018-2019 season.

The peacock network struck gold with the biggest freshman hit of 2016-2017, This Is Us. In fact, Dan Fogelman’s family dramedy got picked up for two more seasons. Hopefully the season two premiere can get rid of the bad taste the disappointing season one finale left us with. Meanwhile, The Voice is back, at least through Fall 2017. Dick Wolf’s Chicago-Verse will be back next year, although the future of Chicago Justice is still unknown. The other big news from NBC is Law & Order: SVU getting renewed for season 19. It only needs to stay on air for two more years to pass Gunsmoke and the original Law & Order‘s 20-season longevity record.

The CW’s only scripted freshman show from the 2016-2017 season to survive so far is Riverdale, the twisted take on Archie Comics that could not possibly be a better fit for the network. All of the DC Comics shows – ArrowThe FlashSupergirl and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow – will be back, and joined by the new series Black Lightning.

Supernatural also got a 13th season. The show has been around so long that it pre-dates the network it airs on. When the show debuted in 2005, it aired on The WB Network, which later merged with UPN in 2006.
