Is Nicki Minaj Married? Twitter Handle Changed to ‘Mrs. Petty’

Nicki Minaj announced on her Queen Radio show that she would soon be marrying Kenneth Petty, and that they would tie the knot within 80 days. On August 12, the 36-year-old rapper said, “[We] filed for the marriage license and we still had to pick it up and I was traveling. By the time I came back, we had to renew it again. From that time, you have 90 days to get married. That was about a week ago, so now I have about 80 days.”

Minaj wants to make sure the second marriage license doesn’t expire, and cited her busy schedule as reasons for why her big day keeps getting delayed. “I have to work on my album and I have a lot to focus on that [so] I don’t want to do the big wedding now. We’ll do the big wedding later. I’ll be married before my album comes out, but will have my wedding after the album comes out.”

It’s not clear when Minaj first start dating Petty, as the “Anaconda” singer didn’t make her relationship with Petty Instagram official until November 2018, during which she was already flashing a massive engagement ring in pictures. Always keeping her fans guessing, on August 16, she officially changed her Twitter handle to @MrsPetty, which has users online fans wondering if she’s already secretly tied the knot.

It’s Unknown as to When Minaj & Petty First Started Dating

Nicki Minaj, who’s real name is Onika Tanya Maraj, has not hid her relationship with Petty, he got a massive tattoo on his neck that reads “Onika.” Despite the fact Petty has served prison time for sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl in 1994, and returned to jail little more than decade later for seven years, pleading guilty to manslaughter charges in the shooting death of young man named Lamont Robinson, Nicki has stood by her man.

Fans on Twitter are Asking for Answers

Changing her handle on Twitter does not mean Nicki is an officially married woman, and many of her fans are still waiting for her upcoming album to drop before recognizing her as Mrs. Kenneth Petty. There’s a chance she merely changed her name online because she’s so excited for the wedding, which as she previously announced, is just around the corner. There’s also a chance that because her album release is taking longer than expected, she and Petty secretly made their marriage official, not wanting the stress of having to file for a third certificate.

The rapper recently released the hit “Megatron,” in June, and on August 15, she dropped a remix of Pop Smoke’s “Welcome to the Party.” Her last album, Queen, was released in 2018. The release date for Minaj’s fifth studio album has not been confirmed, nor has she released the name of the record.

While Nicki’s union with Petty continues to draw mixed reactions online, fans on Twitter are begging for the rapper to clarify what exactly is going on with her relationship.
