Nick Gordon, the ex-boyfriend of the late Bobbi Kristina Brown, has died in Florida at age 30. According to TMZ, Gordon was hospitalized for a short time before his death. He is believed to have died of a suspected drug overdose.
After Brown was found unresponsive in her bathtub on January 31, 2015, Gordon was the subject of a criminal investigation. He was later found liable in the wrongful death case of Kristina and was ordered by the judge to pay her estate $36 million, according to People.

1. His Brother, Jack Walker Jr., Has Publicly Confirmed Gordon’s Death
Gordon’s brother, Jack Walker Jr., confirmed Gordon’s death to People in a statement that read, “We are devastated by the loss of my beautiful brother… He leaves a void in the hearts of my family and his friends. Nick’s battle in life was not an easy one. I will be forever grateful that my God afforded a small moment at the very end of Nick’s life, and I was able to hold his hand as he journeyed on.”
On Wednesday evening, Walker took to his personal Facebook page with a post that read, “I love you so much big brother I hope you heard me talking to you at your bedside you are with me and I can feel it I love you I love you I love you watch over me and your nieces shit wasn’t suppose to go like this I talked to 6 hours before all this started you gave me my nickname Lil Wop and that Will forever be what I go by , you we’re best friend and I never in a million years thought I’d be writing this for my ACE I was there through every step we all love you no matter what and we’ll all stay strong for you , New Years didn’t have to start like this and you just told me you HAD to see me for New Years but I’m blessed I got to talk to you last night you will forever be my best friend nobody will ever take your place.”
Prior to that, he posted a status on Facebook that said, “All I can do is cry.”
When WSB-TV reached out to Gordon’s attorney, Randall M. Kessler, he responded with the following statement: “My heart sunk when I heard the news. This is a tragic ending to Nick’s troubled life.”
2. Sources Say Gordon Had a Series of Heart Attacks During New Year’s Eve Celebrations
Sources tell The Daily Mail that Gordon suffered a series of heart attacks during New Year’s Eve celebrations on Tuesday night. The outlet goes on to describe Gordon as a “prolific drug abuser.”
A source shared, “It’s early days but the suggestion is he was taking drugs with friends and he passed out. They drove him to the hospital, took him inside and then left him there… Whatever you think of Nick and his lifestyle, it’s terribly sad that his supposed friends just dumped him and drove away.”
A specific cause of death has not been released at this time.
3. A 2015 Lawsuit Claims Gordon Gave Bobbi Kristina Brown a ‘Toxic Cocktail’ the Night of Her Death
Gordon was a controversial figure throughout the investigation into Bobbi Kristina Brown’s death. According to WSB-TV, an amended lawsuit against Nick Gordon from 2015 claims that he gave Brown a “toxic cocktail” and placed her facedown in the bathtub the day she was found.
The amended lawsuit adds that Gordon came home on January 31 after “being out all night on a cocaine and drinking binge.”
The lawsuit, according to WSB-TV, also states that Gordon would “transfer large amounts of money from Brown into a bank account controlled solely by him.” The outlet continues, “Another claim says Gordon physically abused Brown, ‘including punching her in the face, knocking out a front tooth, and dragging her upstairs by her hair.'”
In 2016, Gordon was founded legally responsible in the wrongful death of Bobbi Kristina Brown. He failed to appear in court. The Atlanta Fulton County Court confirmed his sentencing to US Weekly: “Fulton County Superior Court Judge T. Jackson Bedford ruled today that Nick Gordon is legally responsible for Bobbi Kristina Brown’s death after the defendant failed to appear in court.”
4. He Recently Moved to Orlando
TMZ reports that Gordon had moved to Orlando just a few months ago.
The Daily Mail specifies that Gordon was living with friends, and his mom had recently moved to Hawaii.
5. He Was Accused of Domestic Violence In 2018
While under criminal investigation for Brown’s death, Gordon was accused of domestic violence.
Gordon’s girlfriend at the time, Laura Leal, claimed that Gordon struck her in the face while she was driving. She also said he pulled her hair.
Leal later denied the altercation in a letter to the judge. According to People, Leal took back her statement and denied being “struck or touched against her will” by Gordon.
The case did not proceed to trial.
