“Vanderpump Rules” star Scheana Shay took exception to comments made by Mauricio Umansky during the premiere of the 32nd season of “Dancing with the Stars.”
Shay has been supportive of her castmate Ariana Madix, one of Umansky’s competitors on DWTS. During the October 6 episode of her podcast “Scheananigans with Scheana Shay,” alongside “Summer House” personalities Paige DeSorbo and Hannah Berner, Shay noted she was in the audience during the DWTS season 32 premiere episode.
The “Good as Gold” singer shared she sat near “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star Kyle Richards, who has been going through a very public separation from Umansky. Shay revealed she was not impressed with Umansky’s introductory package.
In the video, he mentioned his separation from Richards and noted that the couple has gone “through a rough year.” The “Buying Beverly Hills” star also stated that he was “really hoping that ‘Dancing with the Stars’ is going to get [his] mind off of it and to have some fun.”
“He said, like, ‘Kyle and I have had some issues recently. So I’m looking forward to basically just not dealing with that, and having fun on Dancing with the Stars,’” recalled Shay. “But the way he said it, I just looked at [Richards] immediately after. I was like, ‘There’s no way she saw this package ahead of time. And now it’s, like, live TV.’ And my heart sank.”
Shay said she believed Umansky’s package, which she described as “kind of arrogant,” caused him to be placed in “the bottom two.”
“When I saw him in the bottom two, I was like ‘I think it was that package,'” said Shay.
Paige DeSorbo Shared Her Thoughts About Kyle Richards on Scheana Shay’s Podcast
DeSorbo shared her thoughts about Richards and Umansky’s separation on the October 6 “Scheananigans with Scheana Shay” episode. She said she has been a long-time fan of Richards and noted that Richards is not usually at the center of the drama on RHOBH.
“You can have just so many seasons where nothing’s really happened to you that’s kind of crazy. And here is her moment. It’s happening,” said DeSorbo.
The 30-year-old also said she has empathy for Richards and was previously unaware of rumors that Umansky has been unfaithful in their marriage.
“I feel for Kyle. I didn’t realize there were as many rumors about Mauricio as there were throughout the years. So I kind of feel bad for her,” said the Bravo star.
Mauricio Umansky Shared Information About His Relationship
Umansky spoke about his marriage to Richards in an October 2023 interview with Extra TV. He said while he and his wife “are separated,” they are continuing to work on their marriage. He said he and Richards “are still best friends,” despite their relationship issues.
“We are not throwing in the towel,” said the Agency CEO.
The 54-year-old also shared that he and Richards, who wed in 1996, intend to be transparent about their relationship.
“We are going to take our time. And, you know, when we know what is happening with our lives, we will make sure everyone else knows what is happening with our lives,” said the father of four.
While speaking to Access Hollywood in October 2023, Umansky said he appreciated “Dancing with the Stars,” as it has taken his mind off his relationship issues.
“I wake up every morning and I have to deal with the subject at hand. And, you know, the dancing is a great distraction. And I love to focus on it,” he said.
He said he’s aware he will only be on the ABC competition series for a short time and wants to enjoy the experience as much as possible.
“I have a very limited amount of time to be dancing. And then I’m going to have the rest of my life to get back to everything else I do. So during this time, I’m going to enjoy it. I’m going to live the moment, seize the moment. And have as much fun as possible,” he said.
