Pregnant DWTS Pro Gives Update After Emergency Situation

ABC A DWTS pro provided an update following a home emergency.

Dancing with the stars pro Lindsay Arnold and her husband Sam Cusick spent New Year’s Day dealing with an unexpected home disaster when ground water seeped into the couple’s newly renovated basement, causing a significant flood. But after assessing the damage to their property, Arnold shared some promising news with fans.

Here’s what you need to know:

Lindsay Arnold Said That Much of the Flooring They Used Can Be Saved

Arnold and Cusick’s renovated basement includes a new kitchen, a play area, a gym, and new flooring that Arnold originally feared would be destroyed by the flood.

“I think I’m actually gonna lose my freakin’ mind. Our basement’s flooded,” Arnold posted on Instagram, along with videos in various areas of the basement. “This whole room is ruined. Most of the floor has water underneath it, so we’re going to have to rip up all the floors. I’m gonna scream.”

After Cusick took a jackhammer to the floor and got a sump pump going, Arnold provided an update.

“So the solution is, of course, extra expensive and they will have to begin work on that tomorrow,” Arnold said on her Instagram Stories. “But grateful it wasn’t worse and that our whole basement isn’t ruined.”

A few days later, Arnold shared the news that the basement flooring would survive the flood.

“The floor boards will not be compromised at all from the water,” Arnold captioned a post on January 3, 2023. “[I]t saves so much money that we don’t have to purchase all new flooring. Just have to make sure we get everything under the floor dried out! Such an incredible reason why we chose to work with @hewnfloor. I highly recommend.”

An ‘Excited’ Lindsay Arnold Posted a Video Tour of Her Unfinished Basement

In a video posted to the YouTube channel “The Arnold Sisters” on December 21, 2021, Arnold gave fans a video tour of her unfinished basement before remodeling commenced and shared her plans for the finished space.

“A fun little basement update is that we just got a quote back and holy moley, everything is so expensive right now,” Arnold said of renovation costs. “But it’s okay, we’re going to push forward. We’re super excited.”

Arnold explained that a new elevated “workout room” would feature “huge” glass doors, white walls and “light wood flooring” that would extend “throughout the whole basement.” Arnold then pointed out other basement areas she and Cusick planned to transform into a kitchen, an office, a bedroom and bathroom, and a home theater.

“We have everything pretty much figured out,” Arnold said in the video. “And I think they’re going to be starting [renovations] down here in like the next couple of weeks.”

Lindsay Arnold Said All Will Be Fixed in Just a ‘Couple of Weeks’

On January 5, 2022, Arnold shared on social media that the basement was expected to be back to normal in a few weeks.

“Just got to White Space Studios. I’m about to film. Now, many of you know that I have been planning on filming in our basement once it was finished. And it was finished. And then it flooded. And it’s just… I still can’t believe that happened,” Arnold said. She added that she and Cusick were taking steps to prevent a flood from happening again.

“We have our flood plan and hoping everything goes smoothly,” she shared on an Instagram video.

About a week later, Arnold posted a video of the permanent sump pump the couple installed in their basement.
