‘The Masked Singer’ Season 4 Episode 10 Recap
The 6 semifinalists performing competing in episode 10 were the Crocodile, the Jellyfish, the Popcorn, the Sun, the Seahorse, and the Mushroom.
Kicking off the episode was a group performance of “Take on Me” from the semifinalists, complete with new clues about each contestant’s identity. Then, the night’s guest panelist emerged (masked) to play piano and sing “I Will Survive,” before revealing himself as Craig Robinson.
The first face-off of the night was Seahorse vs. Crocodile. Before her performance, the Seahorse said that by performing behind the mask, she is finding the love of performance that she first had as a little girl. She also revealed she’d be attempting choreography for the first time. Her super clue was a telescope. The Seahorse performed “That’s What I Like” by Bruno Mars, before revealing she has a connection with host Nick Cannon who she said hosted her in the past. The panelists guessed she might be Tori Kelly, Kesha, or Sia.
The Crocodile said that his costume is giving him permission to finally explore all genres of music and that he’s competing for his children. For his super 6 performance, the Crocodile sang “Don’t Wanna Miss a Thing.” Crocodile said he has a connection with Craig, and that they shared the screen in the past. After the audience voted, they chose to send Crocodile into the finale, eliminating the Seahorse.
The next showdown was between Mushroom and Jellyfish. Mushroom’s super clue was an alarm clock set at 3:00, and he revealed he’s connected to Robin Thicke. The judges guessed he might be Jaden Smith, Jordan Fisher, Leslie Odom Jr., or Keegan-Michael Key.
In response, Jellyfish sang “Stay” by Rihanna. The judges thought she could be Chloe Kim, Grimes, or Gabby Douglas. Though her performance was wonderful, it wasn’t enough to keep her in the competition. The audience voted to send Mushroom to the finale, which meant it was time for Jellyfish to go home.
The final face-off of the night was Popcorn vs. Sun. Popcorn was up first, and her super clue was a stop sign. She chose to sing “Better Be Good to Me” by Tina Turner, which Jeong called a “religious experience.” After she revealed she has a connection to Jenny McCarthy, saying “we’ve definitely talked before.” The panelists guessed it could be Mary Wilson, Taylor Dayne, or Bette Midler.
The last performance of the night was given by Sun, who chose to sing a stunning cover of “When The Party’s Over” by Billie Eilish. The number brought the judges to their feet and moved them to tears. The Sun revealed she’s connected to Nicole, saying “last time we met was in the bathroom.” The panelists guessed she might be LeAnn Rimes, Brandi Carlisle, Kate Hudson, or Emilia Clarke.
The Sun’s performance secured her spot in the finals, and Popcorn was eliminated after viewers’ votes.
3 Semifinalists Were Eliminated & Unmasked: Popcorn, Jellyfish, & Seahorse
Popcorn was the first contestant to take off her mask and revealing herself as…
… Taylor Dayne!
Except for Nicole, who guessed Diana Ross, all of the panelists had the same first impression guess for Popcorn: Tina Turner. Jenny and Craig guessed Dayne correctly for their final guess before her unmasking. The Grammy-nominated singer said her favorite part of competing on The Masked Singer was the creativity.
Jellyfish unmasked herself next, revealing…
… gold medalist Chloe Kim!
Ken and Craig guessed Kim correctly, and Ken thanked her for inspiring his young daughters. Kim revealed that she tried DM-ing Jeong two years ago, but that he never even read it. She said the whole experience was “amazing” for her, especially since she’d never performed in front of anyone before joining The Masked Singer.
The last to remove her mask and unveil her celebrity identity was the Seahorse. She revealed herself as…
… Grammy-winning singer/songwriter Tori Kelly!
Robin, Nicole, and Craig guessed correctly before Kelly revealed her identity. Saying “I’ve always thought of myself as ‘just’ a singer,” she revealed that she wanted to compete on The Masked Singer to show another side of herself as a performer. After competing, she said “I feel like more of an entertainer now, as a whole.”
