George registered a team-high 24 points (8-10 FG, 6-8 3Pt, 2-3 FT), three rebounds, four assists and one steal across 31 minutes before fouling out of Thursday's 130-123 loss to the Suns. George somewhat surprisingly led the team in scoring, putting up a career-high 24 points with six triples off the bench for his first 20-point effort since the Nov. 4 loss to Golden State. The rookie first-rounder is beginning to trend up over his last six games (two starts), as he's averaging 11.0 points, 3.2 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.3 steals and 2.3 threes in 24.9 minutes during that span. George has struggled with inefficiency overall this season, but Thursday's showing could earn him more playing time with the rebuilding Wizards going forward.

Career-high 24 points off bench
Leads bench in loss Monday
George closed with 10 points (4-7 FG, 2-5 3Pt), three assists, two steals and one rebound in 18 minutes during Monday's 120-106 loss to the Timberwolves. George led the Wizards' bench in scoring in an efficient outing from the field Monday. However, the rookie received limited playing time in his third consecutive contest off the bench, during which he has averaged 10.0 points, 2.3 assists, 2.3 rebounds and 1.3 steals while shooting only 34.8 percent from the field in 21.3 minutes per contest.
Scores 12 points off bench
George ended with 12 points (4-11 FG, 4-8 3Pt), four rebounds, two assists and one block in 26 minutes during Friday's 138-105 loss to the Bulls. George returned to the bench after starting in the Wizards' previous two outings, but the rookie out of Miami responded by delivering his first double-digit scoring performance since Dec. 28. George has logged at least 20 minutes in all but one of his previous 11 appearances, so he's seeing enough playing time to be valuable in deep formats, but he's averaging only 6.7 points, 4.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists and a combined 1.5 steals-plus-blocks in that span while shooting a woeful 32.9 percent from the floor. Those numbers won't take him too far in fantasy, essentially limiting his upside to deep formats.
Back to bench Friday
George is not in the Wizards' starting lineup against the Bulls on Friday. George started in the Wizards' last two games and averaged 6.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1.5 blocks and 1.0 steals over 27.5 minutes per contest in those starts. However, George will come off the bench Friday due to Jordan Poole returning from a hip injury.
Starting Tuesday
George will start Tuesday's game against the Rockets. With Jordan Poole (hip) and Malcolm Brogdon (foot) in street clothes Tuesday, George will join Washington's first unit. George is averaging just 5.9 points, 3.8 rebounds, 1.1 assists, 0.8 steals and 1.1 threes in 23.8 minutes per game while shooting 32.2 percent from the field across his last nine games, but the rookie first-rounder is set to soak up additional usage against Houston and is worth a look as a streamer in most fantasy leagues.
Flounders in loss
George accumulated one point (0-7 FG, 0-6 3Pt, 1-1 FT), three rebounds, one assist and one steal in 27 minutes during Sunday's 110-98 loss to the Pelicans. Although George started the second half for the injured Malcolm Brogdon (foot) on Sunday, the rookie first-rounder went a brutal 0-for-7 from the field while Jared Butler scored 17 points in just 20 minutes off the bench. George has struggled recently to the tune of 5.9 points, 3.8 rebounds, 1.1 assists, 0.8 steals and 1.1 threes in 23.8 minutes per game while shooting a mere 32.2 percent from the field across his last nine outings. However, if both Brogdon and Jordan Poole (hip) are unable to return to Washington's lineup for Tuesday's tough matchup against the 23-12 Rockets, George would carry some streaming appeal in deep fantasy leagues for threes and defensive stats.
Meager stat line in return
George (ankle) tallied three points (1-4 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 1-2 FT), three rebounds, one assist and one block across 17 minutes in Thursday's 123-114 win over the Hornets. George was one of three Wizards rotation players back in action Thursday following multi-game absences due to injury, with Malcolm Brogdon (hamstring) and Corey Kispert (ankle) also returning to the mix. Though the Wizards were still down a key starting forward in Kyle Kuzma (rib), two-way player Justin Champagnie maintained a spot in the top unit and saw 27 minutes, while George's playing time was more suppressed as he filled a bench role. The rookie first-round pick was a plus-9 during his time on the court but didn't offer much in the way of meaningful numbers in his return from the four-game absence due to a sprained left ankle.
Available Thursday
George (ankle) is absent from the injury report for Thursday's game against Charlotte. George had missed five straight games with a sprained left ankle, but the rookie has been cleared to suit up against the Hornets. In 19 appearances, George is averaging 7.5 points, 4.1 rebounds and 2.6 assists across 26.2 minutes.
Goes through practice
George (ankle) was able to practice Tuesday, Josh Robbins of The Athletic reports. This is good news for Washington, as George has missed the past five games. However, his status for Thursday's game against the Hornets has yet to be determined.
