Waived by San Antonio
The Spurs waived Baldwin on Friday, Michael C. Wright of ESPN.com reports. The 22-year-old was included in the trade that sent Kyle Kuzma (not injury related) to the Bucks in exchange for Khris Middleton (not injury related) on Wednesday. However, the Bucks later flipped Baldwin to the Spurs, who have since let him go. A first-round selection in the 2022 NBA Draft, Baldwin spent his rookie season with the Warriors before latching on with Washington. He has averaged 3.7 points in 9.0 minutes per contest over his three-year career.
Traded to San Antonio
The Bucks traded Baldwin to the Spurs on Thursday, ESPN's Shams Charania reports. Baldwin was shipped from Washington to Milwaukee on Wednesday, and he's now been moved again in a salary dump -- the Bucks sent cash along with Baldwin to push this deal through. It remains to be seen, however, if Baldwin will be part of San Antonio's plans going forward. Baldwin holds career averages of 3.7 points and 2.0 rebounds on 40.1 percent shooting from the field across 91 games.
Shipped to Milwaukee
The Bucks acquired Baldwin, forward Kyle Kuzma and a 2025 second-round pick from the Wizards on Wednesday in exchange for forward Khris Middleton, guard AJ Johnson and a 2028 first-round pick swap, Shams Charania of ESPN reports. Baldwin struggled to break through Washington's rotation this season, averaging just 4.6 minutes in 22 appearances. He'll provide Milwaukee with some added depth in the frontcourt, but he's unlikely to see his playing-time outlook improve as a result of the trade. The 22-year-old forward is set to become a free agent this summer after the Wizards declined his $4.42 million team option for the 2025-26 season back in October.
Recalled by Wizards
Baldwin was recalled by the Wizards on Sunday. Baldwin logged 28 points and seven rebounds during the Go-Go's Saturday night win against the G League's Wisconsin Herd, a performance that earned himself a promotion to the Wizards. In NBA action this season, he has averaged 4.2 minutes in 19 games, so playing time should be sparse at best for him for the time being.
Returns to parent club
The Wizards recalled Baldwin from the G League's Capital City Go-Go on Sunday. Baldwin played in the Go-Go's 108-100 win over the Cleveland Charge on Sunday, finishing with 14 points, five rebounds and two assists over 22 minutes. He's played a total of six minutes over his last four outings with the Wizards.
Back in rotation Monday
Baldwin supplied no counting stats in two minutes during Monday's 126-106 loss to the Knicks. Baldwin saw two minutes during garbage time, continuing his disappointing season. To this point, he has been used sparingly by the Wizards, averaging 1.9 points and 0.9 rebounds in 4.3 minutes per game. Although his playing time could increase at some point, it appears as though that moment is still well ahead of us.
Plays tail end of blowout
Baldwin (calf) played the final 33 seconds of Sunday's 112-98 loss to the Celtics and recorded no statistics during his time on the court. Baldwin was back in action for Washington after he had previously missed four straight games earlier this month while tending to right calf inflammation. Though Washington was without five players due to injury Sunday, Baldwin still couldn't crack the rotation, as he didn't enter the game until the Celtics had the win well in hand.
Returns to NBA
The Wizards recalled Baldwin from the Capital City Go-Go of the G League on Friday. Baldwin will return to the NBA after a brief stint in the G League. The 22-year-old forward is averaging 2.3 points and 1.1 rebounds in 5.1 minutes across 11 appearances for the Wizards this season.
