Butler won't start Sunday's game against the Hawks. Butler's string of starts will end at seven, as Jeff Dowtin is getting a crack as the starting point guard Sunday. However, the 76ers remain depleted by injuries, so Butler should maintain a sizable role off the bench despite the demotion.

Jared Butler Latest News
Not starting Sunday

Butler won't start Sunday's game against the Hawks. Butler's string of starts will end at seven, as Jeff Dowtin is getting a crack as the starting point guard Sunday. However, the 76ers remain depleted by injuries, so Butler should maintain a sizable role off the bench despite the demotion.
Solid showing in OT loss

Butler registered 21 points (7-15 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 6-6 FT), two rebounds, five assists, one block and two steals across 37 minutes during Monday's 144-137 overtime loss to the Rockets. Butler scored at least 20 points for just the second time this season and the first time since Jan. 8, but his numbers have been inconsistent over the last few games. Nonetheless, he should remain in the starting lineup until Tyrese Maxey (back) returns to the hardwood, though it's unclear when that'll be. Butler has scored in double digits in three of his last five starts, averaging 13.2 points, 6.0 assists and 3.0 rebounds per game in that stretch.
Scores 17 points in loss

Butler notched 17 points (6-13 FG, 3-9 3Pt, 2-2 FT), three rebounds, four assists and one block across 33 minutes during Friday's 112-100 loss to Indiana. Butler has started in each of the last three games for the Sixers, but his solid contributions haven't been limited to that stretch. Making the most of his newfound role in a depleted roster, Butler has scored in double digits in four of his last six outings in March. He's averaging 11.3 points per game while shooting 47.1 percent from the floor over that stretch, and fantasy managers who need a scoring boost for the playoffs in deep formats might give the former Baylor standout an extended look, particularly if he stays in a starting role.
Starting Monday

Butler is starting in Monday's game against the Hawks. Butler will get the nod for this contest. This will be his second start of the season. In his previous start, he posted eight points and nine assists across 25 minutes in a loss to the Nets on Feb. 12.
Records five points

Butler closed Thursday's 123-105 loss to the Celtics with five points (2-5 FG, 1-3 3Pt), five rebounds and one assist in 11 minutes. The 76ers were once again shorthanded Thursday, but Butler wasn't very involved in this loss. If the 76ers switch their focus towards player development in the final weeks of the season, Butler will be a potential name to monitor in fantasy formats because he's a player that has shown plenty of flashes this season when the minutes are there.
Back to bench

Butler will return to the bench for Thursday's game against Boston, Austin Krell of OnPattison.com reports. With Tyrese Maxey (knee) back after a one game absence, Butler will go back to the second unit. On the season, Butler is averaging 7.1 points, 2.7 assists, 1.4 rebounds, 0.4 steals and 0.2 blocks over 11.9 minutes.
Inks standard deal Thursday

The 76ers converted Butler's two-way deal into a standard two-year pact Thursday, Shams Charania of ESPN reports. Butler will join the club on a standard deal after having been acquired by the Sixers via a trade from Washington last Thursday. The 24-year-old out of Baylor is averaging 10.0 points, 4.7 assists, 2.7 rebounds and 0.7 blocks across 17.3 minutes per game in three outings (one start) with Philadelphia. He has shot 42.3 percent from the field and 22.2 percent from three-point range in that three-game span.
Hands out nine assists

Butler racked up eight points (2-9 FG, 0-4 3Pt, 4-5 FT), two rebounds, nine assists and two blocks in 25 minutes during Wednesday's 100-96 loss to Brooklyn. Butler didn't have a good shooting performance after missing seven of his nine attempts from the floor, but he salvaged his fantasy output by delivering season-high marks in both assists and blocks. Butler started due to the absence of Tyrese Maxey (knee), and he might remain in the starting lineup if Maxey isn't recovered by the time the 76ers play the Celtics on Feb. 20 after the All-Star break.
Will start vs. Brooklyn

Butler will be in the starting lineup Wednesday against the Nets, Noah Levick of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports. Butler will join fellow 76ers newcomer Quentin Grimes in the starting lineup Wednesday in Brooklyn. With Tyrese Maxey (knee) ruled out for the matchup against the Nets, the 23-year-old guard, who was recently traded to the team, will get a chance to show Philadelphia what he can do when thrust into a larger role. This will be the first start of the 2024-25 campaign for the Baylor product.
