Who says riding the bus is boring? Not in Cleveland, that’s for sure.
A Cleveland bus driver who decked a screaming, cursing woman on his bus last month has been suspended from his job after an online video went viral, transit authority officials said Friday.
The minute-and-a-half video, posted on worldstarhiphop.com and reposted to YouTube, shows an irate woman screaming obscenities at the bus driver for some reason. She then went up to the bus driver and made the mistake of crossing that yellow line and hitting him, and he wasn’t having any part of that.
The driver, identified by Artis Hughes, then stood up and floored the woman, who’s about half his size, with a solid uppercut that put her on the ground. He then picked her and her pink jacket up and threw her off the bus, but she got back on and they fought some more. And even when one passenger shouted “That’s a f**king female!” the bus driver didn’t back down.
I don’t care. She want to be a man, I’m going to treat you like a man.
The woman, Shidea Lane, 25, didn’t file any charges at the scene, and Hughes, a 22-year-veteran of the transit authority, didn’t file a complaint against her either.
But Mary Shaffer, speaking for the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority, told FoxNews.com Friday the agency has launched an investigation into the Sept. 18 incident.
Lane told another Fox News reporter she doesn’t really know what happened.
She said she was getting on the bus to go to work when the fight happened.
The bus driver didn’t think I had any money to get on the bus and I was looking for it, trying to tell him that I have money to get on the bus. Can you just let me find it? And from there it just escalated.”
She won’t comment on reports that say she spit on Hughes and hit him, but she’s amazed that she got hit.
It’s amazing to see how a man would hit a woman that hard. Are you serious? You could have pulled me off the bus. You can’t really touch anyone, but for real? You really punched me? It felt like I was on Mortal Kombat. It just hurted. It was almost like a ‘finish him!’ type of hit.
