Yet another person has died on the tracks of a New York City subway. A young woman in her 20s stumbled into the subway system around 5 a.m. on New Year’s day, laid on the tracks and was hit by a train.
The incident took place at the No. 2 line station on 34th street and seventh avenue, close to where the New Year’s eve ball dropped in Times Square.
Awareness of the dangers of New York City’s subway city has recently been brought to national attention after two people were pushed to their deaths in front of oncoming trains in December. In fact, subway deaths are more common than you would think. According to a report from the Daily News, last year there was on average a death a week.
NYPD said that there didn’t appear to be any criminality involved. The woman’s name has not yet been released.
