Jodi Arias’ Murder Trial Gets Intense as Accused Breaks Down in Court

The accused murderer of Travis Alexander, Jodi Arias, sobbed in court on Thursday on its most dramatic day yet, reports the Seattle Pi. An intense cross-examination by prosecutor Juan Martinez left the 32-year-old woman in tears as he shot blunt questions at her, forcing her to break down.

“Were you crying while you were shooting him?” Juan Martinez asked a sobbing Arias. “Were you crying when you were stabbing him?”

As the Martinez relentlessly fired the questions, Arias covered her face with her hands and sobbed uncontrollably. It was the most intense day of the trial since it began weeks ago.

Arias is charged in the June 2008 death of her ex-boyfriend, Travis Alexander, in the widely watched murder trial. The accused claims she was defending herself, but police say it was a planned killing fueled by jealous rage.

If found guilty, she faces the death penalty.
