An ad posted to the popular online classified site Kijiji has prompted a police investigation in the Fort McMurry, Alberta area, after a young mother-to-be posted the listing asking $3000 for her unborn child.

“Hi, I’m 7 and a half months pregnant with twin boys,” read the ad. “I’m 20 years old and as hard as it is I can only care for one child. I would like to sell my other baby to a sweet caring family who will love him and care for him. I would like it to be private as well. Email if interested or would like to know more.”

The ad has since been removed, and it’s not yet known whether it was real or just a hoax. @Jones_Jedi was able to take a screenshot of the listing before it was removed.

Wood Buffalo RCMP Constable Natasha Lytwenko told the Globe and Mail on Tuesday that a concerned member of the public alerted police to the ad on March 28.

“It was seen by someone who was quite concerned,” she said, “…We’re still conducting an investigation to determine the validity to it.”

Anyone with information is being asked to call police at 780-788-4000, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
