A Fourth of July parade in Oklahoma turned tragic on Thursday after a father accidentally ran over and killed his 8-year-old son who fell off of a float he was driving, reports NBC News.
The people of Edmond, Oklahoma celebrated the Fourth of July with its 40th annual parade, which was a part of the weeklong LibertyFest. Celebrations quickly ended around 11 a.m. when a little boy “either jumped or fell off” a float his father was driving for a local martial arts group, said Jenny Monroe, a spokeswoman for the Edmond Police.
A nurse was in the car behind the float and reportedly attempted CPR on the boy before he was taken to the UC Presbyterian Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Edmund police wish its condolences in a message on Twitter after the incident.
Our thoughts today for the family of a 7 yr old boy killed in a float accident at the end of the LibertyFest parade. Heartbreaking.
