Kenyan Geoffrey Mutai, 32, has triumphed in the 2013 New York City Marathon, finishing moments ago in a time of 2:08:24.
Mutai holds the world record in the marathon, running an insane 2:03:02 in the 2011 Boston Marathon, and the NYC Marathon course record, set in 2011 at 2:05:05.
“To win a race for the first time is easy,” said the self-coached Mutai after today’s victory. “But to defend your title is not easy.”
Finishing second, nearly a minute behind the leader, was Tsegay Kebede of Ethiopia in a time of 2:09:16:
