DISTURBING VIDEO: Prison Guard Charged With Body-Slamming Inmate to Death

In July 2013, 40-year-old Shon Demetrius McClain was serving time for a misdemeanor drug charge in a Wake County, North Carolina, detention center when he got into a confrontation with prison guard Markeith Council.

Around 13 days later, McClain was dead with severe trauma to his head, neck, spinal cord and brain, according to WFLA. Now, after a long investigation and requests on the part of McClain’s family, the videotape of the incident has been released.

Before his final imprisonment, McClain had a long history with the law. According to the Department of Public Safety, his previous convictions included possession of stolen goods, breaking and entering, larceny, indecent liberty with a child, failing to register as a sex offender and obscuring justice.
