Have you ever wondered why the only thing you’ve ever seen from inside a Supreme Court deliberation were courtroom drawings? That’s because it’s illegal to film or tape inside the chamber while the Supreme Court is in session.
According to CNN, yesterday campaign finance reform activists 99Rise.org uploaded the first ever video of the Supreme Court in session to YouTube.
They clandestinely filmed bits of an oral argument while the court argued McCutcheon v Federal Election Commission about limits to campaign contributions for corporations. The video was taken on October 8, 2013.
The video ends with a spectator yelling loudly about the Citizens United decision before both are removed from the chamber.
