Toronto Mayor Rob Ford has been diagnosed with a tumor, according to a statement from Humber Regional Hospital in the city.
Here’s what we know so far:
1. He’s Been Suffering From Abdominal Pains
Mayor Ford was first admitted to hospital 24 hours before the diagnosis, he had been complaining of abdominal pains. The pain worsened since then.
2. Doug Ford Confirmed the Tumor
His brother, Doug Ford, told the media that his brother had been diagnosed with a tumor. He was be joined in a media conference with Dr. Rueben Devlin of Humber River Hospital.

3. Mayor Ford Has Had Various Health Issues Over the Years
Ford was last hospitalized in 2012 for kidney stones. That issue passed without major incident.
He’s also suffered from asthma related illnesses in recent years.
4. Toronto’s Mayoral Election Is in 6 Weeks
He’s due to contest Toronto’s mayoral election on October 27, 2014. Ford is seeking a third term in office. Among Ford’s challengers are Olivia Chow, the woman who earned the endorsement of The Daily Show’s, Jon Stewart. There’s been no word on whether Ford’s health will affect his candidacy.
5. A Tell-All Book About Ford Is on the Way
This news comes as Ford’s former aide, Mark Towhey, is expected to release a tell-all book about the mayor’s indiscretions.
