Miss Cleo’ Cause of Death: How Did the TV Psychic Die?

Youree Harris, best known as TV psychic Miss Cleo, has died at the age of 53, TMZ reports.

Harris played Miss Cleo in commercials for the Psychic Readers Network in the late 1990s, and was known for her catchphrase “call me now!” According to TMZ, Harris had been battling colon cancer, which spread to her liver and lungs.

She was hospitalized recently and had been moved to a hospice center last week. She died in Palm Beach County, Florida, while surrounded by friends and family, TMZ reports.

Harris used a Jamaican accent in the commercials, but it was later revealed that she was born and raised in Los Angeles. After the Psychic Readers Network closed down in the early 2000s, in the face of several fraud lawsuits and charges from the Federal Trade Commission, Harris moved on to voice acting, playing the character Auntie Poulet in the 2002 video game Grand Theft Auto: Vice City.
