Roger Moore has died at the age of 89.

Moore is survived by three children: a daughter, Deborah Moore, and two sons, Geoffrey and Christian. His family issued a statement on Tuesday morning announcing his death.

“It is with a heavy heart that we must announce our loving father, Sir Roger Moore, has passed away today in Switzerland after a short but brave battle with cancer,” the statement read. “The love with which he was surrounded in his final days was so great it cannot be quantified in words alone.”

So who is Geoffrey Moore, one of Roger Moore’s two sons? Here’s what you need to know

1. His Mother Is Luisa Mattioli, Roger Moore’s Third Wife

Geoffrey Moore’s mother is Luisa Mattioli, an actress and Roger Moore’s third wife.

Moore married Mattioli in 1969, and they remained married until 1996. The first child they had together was a girl, Deborah, who was born in 1963. Next they had Geoffrey in 1966, and then they had their youngest son, Christian.

In the early 1990s, after a cancer scare, Roger Moore began to rethink his life, especially his marriage to Luisa Mattioli. He decided to leave her and begin a relationship with Kristina Tholstrup, one of his next door neighbors.

Roger Moore explains in the book My Word is My Bond that he named his son after Geoffrey Toone, an actor who Moore learned from.

All three of Roger Moore’s children have been involved in Hollywood in some form or another.

Geoffrey Moore has been in a few films, though never anything too well known. For example, he was in the 1993 action films Fit to Kill and Hard Hunted. In 1990, he had a small role in his father’s film Fire, Ice & Dynamite.

He was also the third assistant director on A View to a Kill, which starred Roger Moore. However, Geoffrey Moore ultimately decided to leave acting behind him and pursue another career.

Geoffrey’s sister, Deborah, continues to work as an actress. She recently did voiceover work on the video games Mass Effect: Andromeda and Star Wars: Battlefront, and she had a small role in the first season finale of the BBC series Sherlock.

3. He Works in the Restaurant Business

Geoffrey Moore left acting behind in order to pursue a career in the restaurant business.

According to The Guardian, in 1993, Geoffrey Moore invested £1 million into opening a restaurant in Mayfair: Hush, which went on to become quite profitable. Moore told The Guardian that being the son of Roger Moore is certainly an advantage, even in his business.

“I love catering and the advantage of having a father who is famous is that people do come out of curiosity,” he said.

Moore also talked about the fact that when he was kid, he wanted to work in Hollywood.

“I sort of drifted into it by pursuing as many options as possible all at the same time – I was signed as a singer to EMI and I did appear in a few movies, but it’s the restaurant that really took off,” he said. “But I know I will return to film one day.”

Just because Geoffrey Moore grew up being raised by a wealthy actor, that doesn’t necessarily mean he got everything he could ever want. Geoffrey Moore told The Guardian that his father worked hard not to spoil him.

Geoffrey Moore also told The Guardian that his father would deal out Christmas presents to his children as if the family was poor. Still, coming from a wealthy family can make it difficult to manage money, and Geoffrey said that he had to learn this skill.

“I used to be irresponsible with money, but now I realise how very difficult it can be, especially with a family to support,” he told The Guardian. “It’s about saving for school fees, dealing with waiting lists and wondering whether the house is big enough if we have another child. Marriage changes everything.”

In the book My Word is My Bond, Roger Moore talks about the fact that his kids felt like they had two dads because their father was an actor.

“I sometimes wondered if Deborah and Geoffrey understood what it was I did for a living, as they would often visit the set and see my prancing about in character, and then see me on the TV at home,” he wrote. “One day, I overheard Deborah telling Geoffrey that they were lucky in having two daddies – daddy at home, and daddy Simon Templar on the TV.”

“My son Geoffrey and his beautiful family – the lovely Loulou, and daughters Ambra and Mia…” Moore writes.

Later in the book, he describes Geoffrey as “A handsome lad, took after his mother. He is loaded with charm, and today has a beautiful wife, Loulou and two absolutely ravishing daughters, Ambra and Mia.”
