President Donald Trump is about to speak at the Naval Air Station Sigonella in Sicily, Italy.
Trump’s speech to members of the U.S. military is scheduled to begin momentarily, and it can be viewed live in the embedded YouTube player via The White House.
According to those who are on the scene in Sicily, this address is very much set up like a Donald Trump campaign rally, complete with the theme from Air Force One playing as it did during the campaign, according to The Associated Press’ Jonathan Lemire.
This speech comes as Trump departs the G-7 summit. Many other world leaders held press conferences after the summit, but instead, Trump will be delivering this speech at the Naval Air Station Sigonella.
Trump’s remarks come at the end of his week-long foreign trip, which is about to conclude, as he is scheduled to return to the White House later today.
Quite a few things have happened since the last time Trump delivered lengthy remarks like this, including the report on Friday that Jared Kushner, according to The New York Times, spoke with the Russian ambassador about establishing a secret communications channel between the Trump transition team and Moscow.
The Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals also upheld the block on Donald Trump’s revised travel ban. It would not be surprising to hear Trump, who frequently criticizes judges who rule against him, bring this up during his remarks.
Finally, Trump will likely make some sort of reference to the recent suicide bombing that occurred in Manchester, although he did already address this during a press conference this past week in which he called the perpetrators “losers.”
“So many young beautiful innocent people living and enjoying their lives murdered by evil losers in life,” Trump said. “I won’t call them monsters because they would like that term. They would think that’s a great name. I will call them from now on losers because that’s what they are.”
