Jason Aldean at Route 91 Las Vegas Shooting: How Is He? [UPDATES]

Jason Aldean, a country music singer who is one of the headliners for the Route 91 Harvest Festival, was performing when a shooting in Las Vegas started. The singer survived the shooting and is fine. But Las Vegas police say at least 20 people were killed and more than 100 wounded after a gunman opened fire.

Aldean’s team reported quickly that the singer was fine.

His wife, Brittany Aldean, later took to Instagram to share what happened.

Brittany wrote: “We are safe… our angels were definitely watching over us tonight. No words for what happened… Just horrific. Praying for everyone.”

Aldean said he was heartbroken over what happened. “Tonight has been beyond horrific,” he said on Instagram. “My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone involved tonight. It hurts my heart that this would happen to anyone who was just coming out to enjoy what should have been a fun night #heartbroken #stopthehate”

Jason was on stage when the shooting started. He got off stage as soon as he realized what was happening. At first, however, he kept singing through the gunfire because he wasn’t sure what was happening, New York Daily News reported. Others in the concert thought they were hearing fireworks.

According to the schedule for the Route 91 Harvest concert, Jason was the last person performing on Sunday night, with his performance starting at 9:40 p.m. local time. The shooting was first reported around 10 p.m. local time.

Jake Owen was scheduled to begin performing at 8 p.m., after Luke Combs. Combs was the first to report that that he was fine.

Although news is still coming in, it appears that the shooting may have started while people were at the concert, listening to a performance. Videos show people screaming and running as multiple gunshots were heard. The Las Vegas Metro Police tweeted that they were investigating reports of an active shooter near the Mandalay Bay Casino.

People who were at the concert are sharing videos of the shooting and what happened while Jason was on stage. You can see some of those videos below. See Heavy’s story here for more videos and photos.

The conditions or names of the victims, along with the name of the shooter, have not yet been released. Sunday night was the last night of the Route 91 Harvest country music festival.
