August Ames, an award-winning porn star, is dead at only 23 years old.
The rising star’s death was confirmed by the Ventura County Medical Examiner’s officer, as reported by The Blast.
While little is known about her death at this time, friends believe it was suicide and say that Ames suffered from depression.

The young beauty had over a million followers on Instagram, where she often showed off fitness photos and risqué attire.
On December 3, Ames tweeted about her refusal to shoot a sex scene with another actor who had previously done gay porn. She received extreme backlash online with many labeling her as homophobic. She appeared to believe medical testing for straight versus gay sex scenes was different, which seemingly led to her not wanting to participate.
“whichever (lady) performer is replacing me tomorrow for @EroticaXNews , you’re shooting with a guy who has shot gay porn, just to let cha know,” she tweeted on December 3. “BS is all I can say??♀️ Do agents really not care about who they’re representing? #ladirect I do my homework for my body?✏️?”:
Many have taken to social media to react to the young woman’s death.
“Depression and Suicide is a real thing. Words and actions can affect people. It’s all fun and games until someone is dead somewhere then you come to your senses. Off this twitter sh*t RIP,” @Rudy_Legros tweeted:

Ames was born in Canada and received two Adult Video News awards while appearing in over 270 shoots since she began the career in 2013.
The porn star added humor to many of her posts…”who’s your daddy???? not me, that’s physically impossible,” she posted to Instagram along with the photo below:
