As of 10:00 PM,Gretchen  Whitmer has been named the governor of Michigan.

Here are the results of the Michigan governor’s race as of 10:08 PM, with 22 percent of the precincts reporting, per The New York Times:

Gretchen Whitmer (D): 49.8% (736,116 votes total)

Bill Schuette (R): 47.3% (698,705 votes total)

In the days leading up to the election, RealClearPolitics reflected Whitmer with a ten point lead, defining the state as “Lean Democrat”. For now, the race is much closer.
