Getty Is YouTube Down?

Thousands of YouTube viewers are reporting issues with the service being down or crashing. While it’s still working for some people, others are reporting that the platform is returning a “no Internet connection” message, “error fetching channel list” message, and other errors, particularly with YouTube TV. The issues include forced disconnections, missing sidebars, and more random errors popping up while trying to use the service. YouTube has said on Twitter that it’s working on a fix for the disconnection issues.

Many Are Seeing a ‘No Internet Connection’ Error

One of the main errors people are encountering while using YouTube involves getting kicked or disconnected from the YouTube streams they’re watching, and sometimes receiving a “no Internet connection” error message on top of that, even though their Internet is working just fine.

The issue with losing an Internet connection and disconnecting seems to be prevalent for people using YouTube on multiple platforms, whether YouTube TV, Firestick, PS4, Xbox, or another device or service.

On DownDetector, about 46% are having problems with the website, 32% with the app, and 22% with video streaming.

Some people aren’t seeing a sidebar or they’re getting kicked out of the app. Here’s a photo one person shared on Twitter showing the missing sidebar.

Some people can’t switch their accounts, and others can’t get the platform to work on any of their devices, whether TV, mobile, or computer.

On Reddit, one user shared screenshots of the issues they were encountering, including not seeing the sidebar or menus. Another issue reported is seeing the channel menu stuck on buffering.

YouTube Studio is also experiencing issues, and many people can’t view their channel analytics.

The problems seem widespread across the platform, affecting many different systems.

TeamYouTube Said They’re Working on a Fix for the Disconnection Issue

As far as the disconnection issue, YouTube mentioned that they are aware of the issue and working on a fix.

TeamYouTube has set up a support page specifically for the new issues, where they’ll be providing updates. The page reads:  “If you’re having trouble using YouTube services (YouTube, YouTube TV,  YouTube Music, and YouTube Studio) across devices right now – we’re aware and working to fix it!”

The support page then lists known issues, including not being able to sign in or switch accounts, not being able to cast to the TV or “use the app on a gaming console,” “Left-hand Navigation Menus and Setting menus are not appearing / not loading,” the “no internet connection” message, and problems with YouTube Studio.

This webpage will be updated as more details are known.

YouTube Is Suggesting Clearing the Cache & Signing Back in for Some Issues

For one person who was experiencing a glitch with not being able to see the channels they were subscribed to, TeamYouTube on Twitter suggested signing out of their YouTube account and then signing back in, along with clearing the browser’s cache and cookies.

They gave similar advice to someone who was logged out of YouTube and received an error that read, “Error fetching channel list for account.” They suggested deleting extensions, clearing the cache, and then signing back in, along with updating the app.

Quite a few people have taken to Twitter to talk about YouTube being down.

Some issues have also been reported with Grubhub and Google, but not nearly to the extent of YouTube.

In case you’re wondering about other Google features, Google Cloud Platform’s status page is not currently noting an issue. Google’s Workspace Status Dashboard is also not listing any issues.
