The Rams placed Corum (forearm) on injured reserve Tuesday. Corum will be sidelined for the entirety of the Rams' playoff run after he fractured his forearm in Los Angeles' 30-25 loss to Seattle in Week 18. The rookie third-round pick out of Michigan played in all 17 regular-season games but saw limited action behind lead back Kyren Williams in 2024, finishing with 28 carries for 207 yards to go with seven catches for 58 yards and no touchdowns. He also had some involvement on the Rams' return units, bringing back seven kickoffs for 186 yards. With Corum sidelined for the playoffs, Ronnie Rivers will likely be tasked with playing a handful of snaps per game behind Williams.
Corum fractured his forearm in Sunday's 30-25 loss to the Rams and will be sidelined for the entire postseason, coach Sean McVay said after the game, Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic reports. The Rams secured the No. 4 seed in the NFC at 10-7, but Corum's rookie season comes to a close at the end of the regular season due to an injury that will keep him out at least through the playoffs. A more concrete recovery timeline will likely be established in the coming days. The 2024 third-round draft pick rushed 58 times for 207 yards and tacked on seven catches for 58 yards (on eight targets) as the backup to Kyren Williams. Ronnie Rivers is the top candidate to step into the second spot on the depth chart.
Corum was forced out of Sunday's game against the Seahawks with a forearm injury. With Kyren Williams being rested along with several other key starters in Week 18, Corum appeared poised to see an expanded workload versus Seattle. However, the running back exited the game after logging just two carries (for 10 yards) and catching his only target for 12 yards. In his absence, Ronnie Rivers and Cody Schrader are available to handle the Rams' backfield duties.
Corum appears primed to handle an expanded role in Sunday's game against the Seahawks, after head coach Sean McVay acknowledged Monday that the Rams are planning to rest key players such as Kyren Williams in the regular-season finale, Cameron DaSilva of USA Today reports. "There's a handful of guys that could come to mind immediately, but I'm excited about seeing Blake Corum get a heavy workload," McVay said, when speaking about the Rams' approach for Week 18. "I'm excited to see what Cody Schrader is about. I've loved what I've seen from him in some of these practice settings. I think Blake has flashed in some of the opportunities that he's gotten." Though they can secure the No. 3 seed in the NFC playoffs with a win Sunday, the Rams are assured a home game in the wild-card round regardless of how Week 18 action shakes out. McVay suggested that the Rams are content to prioritize rest and injury avoidance to key players rather than going all in on moving up a spot in the standings, so Williams is an obvious candidate to be a healthy inactive for the contest or play only limited snaps. While Williams has handled a three-down workhorse role for each of the Rams' first 16 games, Corum has seen few opportunities, as the third-round rookie will head into Sunday's contest with a 56-197-0 rushing line and 6-46-0 receiving line for the season. The Rams are likely to sprinkle in Schrader and Ronnie Rivers into Sunday's game plan, but Corum appears most likely to lead the Los Angeles backfield in touches and could make for a useful lineup option in fantasy leagues that are still active in Week 18.
Corum rushed three times for minus-4 yards during Saturday's 13-9 victory against the Cardinals. The rookie's role on offense has continually deteriorated over the past five weeks, with his three snaps on offense his lowest usage since he saw just a single offensive snap in Week 9 against the Seahawks. Corum was particularly ineffective against the Cardinals, with only one of his three rushing attempts netting positive yardage. If the Rams are able to clinch a playoff spot prior to their Week 18 contest against Seattle, however, Corum may see an expanded role in hopes of keeping Kyren Williams fresh and healthy for a playoff run.
Corum rushed five times for 14 yards during Sunday's 19-9 victory against the Jets. The rookie running back ripped off a 32-yard run in the second quarter, only to see it negated by a penalty on Hunter Long. Corum was left with his typical numbers otherwise, seeing just nine snaps on offense while Kyren Williams set a season high with 122 yards rushing on 23 attempts, including his 15th touchdown on the year. With the Rams looking to clinch a playoff spot next week, expect Corum's role to continue to remain limited in a Week 17 matchup against the Cardinals.
Corum had three carries for five yards and brought in two of three targets for 15 yards in the Rams' 12-6 win over the 49ers on Thursday night. Kyren Williams logged 29 carries for the second time in four days, so there wasn't much left over for Corum on the ground after he'd recorded eight rush attempts in both of the previous two contests. The rookie did set new career highs in receptions and receiving yards, albeit with modest totals. Williams now will have some extra time to rest from the aforementioned 58-carry tally over a compact two-game period, so Corum is likely to remain in a clear complementary role during a Week 16 road matchup against the Jets on Sunday, Dec. 22.
Corum rushed the ball eight times for 34 yards in Sunday's 44-42 win over the Bills. Corum's role in the offense remained elevated, as his eight rushing attempts matched his highest mark of the season. However, he remains the clear backup to Kyren Williams, who saw 31 total touches in Sunday's win. That leaves Corum as valuable insurance to Williams, but he has very little standalone fantasy value for now.
Corum rushed eight times for 42 yards during Sunday's 21-14 victory against the Saints. It was a day of career highs for Corum, as he was on the field for nearly a third of the Rams' snaps on offense. Kyren Williams, who had been struggling with fumbles in recent weeks, responded with an excellent 15-104-1 rushing line on the day, with the 104 yards representing a season high. While Corum's role did increase, Williams still handled the bulk of the workload, capping the rookie's upside heading into a Week 14 showdown against the Bills.
