McDermott (undisclosed) was placed on injured reserve by the Rams on Wednesday. McDermott suffered an undisclosed injury in the preseason, which will now force him to miss at least the first four games of the 2024 season. The offensive tackle is eligible to return in Week 5 against the Packers on Oct. 6.
McDermott (head) signed a contract with Los Angeles on Tuesday, Sarah Barshop of ESPN.com reports. McDermott was cut by the Patriots back in April after having started five games at left tackle for the team in 2023. He now joins a Rams team in serious need of depth, given that starting tackles Alaric Jackson (ankle) and Rob Havenstein (foot) are both currently banged up.
New England released McDermott on Monday. McDermott started five games at left tackle for the Patriots in 2023, but after adding Chukwuma Okorafor in free agency, New England has opted to let go of McDermott, who is presumably past the injury that landed him on IR late last season, given that he was let go without an injury designation. He'll now have to look for another opportunity with a new team.
