Epps' injury is as severed as feared, and the Wyoming product will miss the remainder of the 2024 season after tearing his ACL. The 28-year-old safety is set to be a free agent in March after recording 66 total tackles and three passes defended across Las Vegas' 17 regular-season games in 2023. Expect second-year pro Chris Smith to see more work with the Raiders' first-team defense with Epps sidelined for the remainder of the season.
Epps (knee) has been ruled out for the rest of Sunday's game against the Panthers. The starting safety made 10 tackles, including one for a loss, before leaving the contest. Epps and the Raiders' defense struggled against the Andy Dalton-led Panthers, allowing over 400 yards of total offense and over 30 points. Chris Smith is the next man up at strong safety.
Epps was questionable for the game after he suffered a neck stinger in Week 11, but he managed to be active and suit up. However, it appears the Wyoming product aggravated the injury and is now questionable to return.
Epps was knocked out of last week's loss the Dolphins with a neck injury. He was a limited participant in all three practices this week and will start at strong safety alongside Tre'von Moehrig. Epps has 45 tackles (31 solo) and a fumble recovery in 11 games this season.
Epps was forced out of the game in the first the half with a neck injury and he will now remain sidelined until the contest's conclusion. In his place, Chris Smith will take over at safety in the Raiders' secondary.
