Smith was claimed off waivers by the Jets on Wednesday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports. Smith was cut loose by the Rams earlier in the week, but he has now found a new home in New York. The safety will operate as a top reserve option behind Malachi Moore against the Patriots on Sunday.

The Rams claimed Smith off waivers Wednesday. Smith was waived by the Raiders on Tuesday but is now headed to Los Angeles, where he can contribute on both defense and special teams. The 2023 fifth-round pick recorded just three tackles (one solo) across nine games with Las Vegas but will look to make a bigger impact with his new team.
