Andre Carter: Everything you need to know

The Dolphins waived Carter on Monday. The move corresponds with the Dolphins signed Quinton Bell from the practice squad to the active roster ahead of Monday night's game against the Steelers. Carter signed with the Dolphins in early November after he failed to make the Raiders' 53-man roster at the end of training camp, though he did not appear in a regular-season game for Miami before being let go.

Carter (undisclosed) registered three tackles (two solo), with 1.0 sacks, during the Raiders' preseason loss to the 49ers on Saturday. Carter had previously been sidelined with an injury but is now healthy again. His strong performance Saturday will likely boost his chance of earning a spot on the team's final roster.

The Raiders signed Carter off the Vikings' practice squad Wednesday. The Army product's signing ensures depth at defensive end in Las Vegas, with Maxx Crosby (ankle) and Malcolm Koonce (knee) both sidelined for the remainder of the season. Carter has yet to appear in a regular-season NFL game this year, but he'll likely serve as a depth piece on the Raiders' defensive line in the Week 16 matchup against the Jaguars.
