Before we get to the NFL Week 3 rankings for wide receivers, let’s take a quick look back to last weekend when some of fantasy football’s top quarterbacks suffered injuries and see how that might affect their respective team’s production.

Injuries to Tony Romo, Drew Brees and Jay Cutler

All three quarterbacks were injured to different extents. Romo is out for about 2 months with a broken left collarbone. Cutler tweaked a hamstring and is down for a couple of games. And Brees has a bruised rotator cuff in his throwing shoulder and is in danger of missing a game or more, though the QB hasn’t ruled himself out.

Let’s see what this means. Brandon Weeden is Dallas’ new QB, but we know he isn’t Romo. WRs Terrance Williams and Cole Beasley must be downgraded in the rankings. That’s also the case in Chicago for usual stud Alshon Jeffery (questionable for Week 3 with a hamstring injury) and Eddie Royal as Jimmy Clausen is set to take the reigns. And while Brees wants to play, after getting injured in Week 2, he clearly couldn’t make the passes, often coming up short. This situation does not bode well for WRs Brandin Cooks and Marques Colston. So, in a nutshell, all of these receivers are ranked lower in Week 3 than they normally would be. Some didn’t even make my Top 50.

But one thing we do know heading into Week 3 is this — Antonio Brown and Julio Jones are once again 1-2 in the rankings.
